The situation
Pack-and-ship stores ring up retail sales, quote shipping across three carriers, print labels, rent mailboxes and keep federal mailbox-compliance paperwork, usually on software from the early 2000s that runs on a server in the back room.
Owners wanted the same thing in the browser, on any device, with the carriers' live rates and their accounting connected, and a way to bring their history with them.
What we built
- Register: retail items, services and shipments on one ticket, card or cash, per-station.
- Live carrier rates from USPS, UPS and FedEx, ranked cheapest and fastest, with the label printed from the same screen.
- Mailbox management with CMRA and Form 1583 compliance records.
- Payments on Stripe Terminal, so card acceptance is a reader and a login, not a merchant-services contract.
- QuickBooks daily sync of sales and deposits.
- One-click import from the incumbent system, so a store switches with its customers and mailboxes intact.

How it is built
A cloud application with no server in the store: a browser, a receipt printer, a label printer and a card reader. Carrier rating and labels come from the carriers' own APIs; the stores' shipping history and the compliance records live in the application's database, per store.
For the engineer reading along: the same Python and FastAPI foundation as Axis, multi-tenant per store, carrier APIs with the rate and label calls cached and throttled per tenant, Stripe Terminal for in-person payments, QuickBooks Online for the nightly posting, importers for the incumbent system's export format.
What it does today
AxisPost is in its launch phase with early stores. Its purpose on this page is to show the range: the same studio that built a multi-location analytics platform built a point of sale with live carrier integration, and both are run the same way.
Running it
A point of sale cannot go down during opening hours, so deploys roll without downtime and the register keeps a ticket in progress across a reload. Watchdog checks the web process, the carrier API health and the nightly QuickBooks job.
