The situation
A small nonprofit or an advocacy campaign needs a site that loads instantly, looks credible, and asks the visitor to do exactly one thing: donate, sign, or call. It does not need a page builder with a monthly fee and a plugin that breaks in a year.
What we built
The Perch Project brings the mental-health benefits of birdwatching and nature stewardship into Colorado schools. The site explains the programs, takes donations and lists events.
Save Colorado Birds was built in days in response to a bill that would have made backyard bird feeding a misdemeanor. It explains the bill and the research, proposes the fix, and routes visitors to their state senator.
How it is built
Static HTML served by nginx with a certificate that renews itself. Forms post to a small service we already run. No database, no plugins, nothing to update.
For the engineer reading along: hand-written HTML and CSS, no build step, images sized for the page, nginx with long cache headers, forms proxied to an existing API, hosted on infrastructure we already pay for so the nonprofit's cost is zero.
What it does today
Both sites are live. The Save Colorado Birds campaign page went from idea to public in under a week.
Running it
Certificate, DNS and uptime checked by Watchdog. There is nothing else to run, which is the point.
